Plastic Free Gandhinagar

Mascot Design

The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation introduced the "Plastic-Free Gandhinagar" campaign, which included a national competition aimed at creating a mascot that symbolizes single-use plastic items and effectively conveys the environmental risks associated with them. This mascot design played a pivotal role in Gandhinagar's efforts to combat single-use plastic.

We were honored to receive the first prize in the competition, and our mascot was chosen by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation to be featured in all of their promotional activities for the campaign.

" Our mascot design, "Plasticasur" (plastic demon), serves as a powerful symbol for single-use plastic items and effectively communicates the environmental hazards they pose. Plasticasur is a personified used water bottle, transformed into a charismatic and relatable character who engages and educates the public on the importance of reducing plastic waste. "

This is a national-level design competition in which students from various design colleges participated. Our design was selected by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation after multiple rounds of evaluation. The selected mascot was launched on May 14th, 2023, during the Gandhinagar Recycling Jan Andolan (GARJANA) 2023 event by the Mayor of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.
